National Inter-ministerial Committee for Earthquake Preparedness – Taking an Active Role in Developing the Mitigation Doctrine

After the 1999 earthquake in Turkey, the Israeli government decided that a general preparedness plan to mitigate the consequences of earthquakes should be prepared in Israel. For this purpose, an inter-ministerial committee was set up with responsibility for the  issue.

ISRATEAM has taken a major part in writing the national doctrine for handling an earthquake event.

In this project, the Company and especially Col. Yori Sofrin , has had to define the role of each governmental office or agency, to develop the general doctrine and the integration of each one of the organizations within the operational doctrine.

The Company has also conducted a number of courses to guide the organizations taking part in handling a national disaster incident such as an earthquake.
